Happy Wednesday!
This week’s IBSIC Challenge is a Christmas Photo/Color Challenge (Sage Green, Red, and White/Cream).
Here is the inspiration photo:
And, here is my Christmas Eve Cake:
The poinsettias have a lot of dimension and sparkle. I put name tags on each slice so I could put specific goodies inside for each person (i.e., Joe is diabetic and only eats plain, dark chocolate, Wolfgang likes dark chocolate mints, etc). The tags are attached with glue dots to the cake top. The 3D trees are attached with pop dots on the bottom so the cake top can easily slide behind the tree.
I used my new Silhouette Portrait (early Christmas present) to cut the cake tops (Creations by AR Piece ‘o Cake template). What a time saver from the last cake I made (here). I still did cut the cake bottoms by hand as I have not yet mastered the right settings for cutting through SU CS. I wasted five sheets on another project. The Silhouette company said I may have received a defective blade and they are mailing me a new one.
Supplies used: Mellow Moss, Real Red, and GP White CS, Mellow Moss DSP, Spellbinders 2010 Holiday Tree and Layered Poinsettias Dies, Fiskars Small and Large Tag Punches, SU Petals-a-Plenty EF, Baker’s Twine, Rhinestones, Stickles, and HC Petite Poinsettia Stamp Set.
Hmmm, I wonder, will I still need to make trifle for Christmas Eve?!?!?
Thanks for stopping by!
Lisa
Wowie! Your cake looks good enough to eat! I adore the layered poinsettias but the 3D trees are my fav 🙂 so happy you got a new toy & you're having fun with it. I know you'll be crafting some awesome svg projects with it. Merry Christmas!!! Hugs~
Love that cake. What a great idea. ( hey and I am happy to see you're using your new toy.)
Love the colors. And that poinsettias are awesome. ( a punch?)
