Happy Friday!
Today, on the Inspired by Stamping Blog, we are featuring Christmas Gift Giving ideas. As you may know, today is Black
Friday, which is the biggest shopping day of the year in the US. Rather than
fight the crowds in the stores, I have an easy home-made gift that can be
made in the comfort of your craft room!
Friday, which is the biggest shopping day of the year in the US. Rather than
fight the crowds in the stores, I have an easy home-made gift that can be
made in the comfort of your craft room!
I started by stamping the striking cardinal
image, from the new Winter Birds
stamp set, on acetate using Staz-On ink, then colored him with alcohol markers,
and finally accented him with a glitter pen. The cardinal word, also from the Winter Birds
stamp set, and the fancy Peace, Joy & Love sentiment, from the Poinsettias
stamp set, were also stamped in Staz-On.

I then cut this out in a circle that would
fit inside the ornament, leaving a little ‘grab piece’ on the top to fit in the
‘neck’ of the ornament so the acetate will stay securely in place. Simply roll
the acetate around a pencil and slide it into the ornament. Once the acetate is
in the ornament it will open up to fill the space. A piece of wired garland and
some silver cording complete the ornament.
Of course, a gift needs gift packaging!

Some shred inside a standard acetate card
box makes the perfect ‘nesting’ for my cardinal ornament. Note, for my project
I used a round, flat ornament. A full, round ornament will work just as well,
though you may need to create your own gift box for it.

For the tag, I used a sentiment from the Sugar & Spice
stamp set. This sentiment can be used year-round for your crafting projects. The
pine cones are from the Christmas Wreath
stamp set, which is currently free with a $50 purchase! This is another stamp
set that has images you can use beyond Christmas-time.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and make
one (or more!) yourself. If you give this a try, don’t forget to link it up in

(if it fits the current color inspiration).
