Well, how’s that for a title?!?!?
Let’s begin with the ‘faux’ part. I wanted to be able to continue making Carousel Note Purses w/o Carousel Notes. So, I made a template from an original Carousel Note. This way I can also make them in any color. For the box, I cut cardstock 8 1/4 x 9 and scored all around at 2 1/2. I then scored from each corner point in to meet the first score line. I put the box together with red sticky tape. This also makes a sturdier base than using the envelopes. The ribbon for the handles was cut at 10 inches each. Of course I used my Crop-a-dile to set the eyelets!
The album in the left of the picture is a pull-out coaster scrapbook. You can view Roxy’s tutorial here:

I also cased Roxy for the gift card holder. Here is the link for that tutorial:

Things to note: The coasters I used were 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 (rather than 4 x 4) so I cut my cardstock & patterned paper at 3 1/2 x 9 (rather than 4 x 10).
I used 22 inch lengths of ribbon (rather than 18 inches). That makes it easier to tie nicer bows.
Also, if you use 4 x 4 coasters and want to put the album in a Faux Carousel Note Purse like I did, you will need to cut your box base 8 1/4 x 10 (rather than my 8 1/4 x 9). The scores would still be 2 1/2 all around. Otherwise, you can use my original measurements and stand the album upright so that it will fit in.
So, what am I going to do with this gift set? I am going to put a sheet of pink tissue paper in the purse and put the album, gift card holder (with a gift card of course!) and some loose chocolates inside and give it to my niece, Samantha, for her birthday.
I hope you enjoyed my posting today. I’ll be back next Wednesday with another project. In the meantime, as I come across blog candy, I’ll continue to post the links.
Until next time, happy crafting!
