This Faux Carousel Notes Purse Book is for Wolfgang’s granddaughter, as a memento of a recent visit. I originally saw the tutorial on Jan’s blog and thought it was an absolutely fabulous project. But, I had a problem–I didn’t have any Carousel Notes or Envelopes. So, what’s a girl to do?!?!? Well, get creative, of course!
In lieu of the envelopes, I used two sheets of 12 x 12 Bazzill cardstock, scored at 3″ all around, to make the 6″ envelopes. After scoring, I cut off the four corner ‘squares.’ Rather than using Carousel Notes for the pull-outs, I used card stock cut at 5 1/4 x 5 3/4. I had a template that I made quite awhile ago of a Carousel Note, so I used that to make the scalloped flap for the purse.
The first picture shows the purse closed. The second and third pictures show the purse opened, both standing and lying flat. The fourth and fifth pictures are close-up of the pull-outs. I only put pictures on one side of each pull-out, but you could easily decorate both sides and they would still fit.
I am quite pleased with how this turned out and I actually like the idea of using card stock rather than the envelopes as it makes a sturdy purse.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.
