Happy Sunday Everyone!
Have you recovered from Thanksgiving yet? We had leftovers on Friday. Last night we had a belated Thanksgiving with our friends, Joe & Anne, and we came home with leftovers for two days! Don’t you just love those no cooking days and reheating days?!?!? Leaves a lot more time for crafting!
This is the Christmas card I made for Wolfgang this year. I have to admit, it was quite time consuming to make.
The card base is SU Bashful Blue. The window was made from a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of white card stock and the panes were made with a 1 1/4 square punch. As the punch didn’t reach far enough into the card, I drew the squares and then cut them with an X-Acto knife. The ‘glass’ is a 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 piece of SU medium weight clear window sheet. I used Crystal Effects and glitter to create the icicles. The snow on the bottom left pane is Liquid Applique and glitter. The snowflakes were stamped in SU Whisper White Craft and embossed with white embossing powder. The larger snowflakes are a stamp from the retired SU Holiday Collection set and the smaller snowflakes are a Judith stick.
Now, on to the inside of the card.
The fireplace is a 2 x 3 piece of Close to Cocoa that I scored every 1/4″ and then every other inch to create the bricks. I ran a Versamarker along the score lines and embossed with white powder. I punched a square out and attached a piece of black card stock to the back of the fireplace to create the opening. The flames were cut from Summer Sun and inked with Pumpkin Pie and Real Red. I hand cut the stockings from Glorious Green and Real Red. The poinsettias (from the retired SU Holiday Minis set) were stamped on watercolor paper and embossed in Gold. I used Old Olive, Real Red, and So Saffron markers to watercolor them. The candle holders are a 5/8 circle of Brushed Gold cut in half with little strips of white and yellow for the candles and flames. The rug in front of the fireplace was stamped in Real Red on Whisper White and punched with a small oval. The stamp is from the SU Holiday Best Level 1 Hostess set.
The tree is Old Olive cut with a Sizzix die. The star was punched from Brushed Gold and the ornaments are various colors made with the MS Ornament border punch. The tree skirt is Real Red using the Scalloped Circle punch. The little teddies on the skirt are Close to Cocoa and were made with one of those $1 bin stamps that you need to step on to get to punch! The train is an MS border punch.
The picture below was my inspiration for this card. First, I have to tell you that my mother has a beautiful (and real) white brick fireplace in her family room. But, this artificial fireplace in her living room is what always gets decorated for the different holidays.
Well, that was a long post and a lot of ‘talking’ for me! Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
